If you look up at the toolbar underneath my header, (Go ahead and glance up there, I will wait…) you will notice a tab named MomRocks.

MomRocks is a site written for moms by a gamer mom

MomRocks is website created by a gamer mom that reviews, finds, and recommends games that are family friendly.  It also teaches non-gamer moms what to do next.

I am the crazy gamer behind that site.  Because I am also a mom, blogger, crafter (is that even a word), gardener, money saver, etc, there will be posts and links to things other than games!

It’s all about the Moms!  Check it out and lend me some support please!

Because I am just crazy enough to have two sites!

DaGeDar – The new super toy

Six years ago we were blessed with our first little boy and the idea of princesses, pink, and Barbies started to disappear.  When our second son arrived I tossed every concept of girly things out the window and have never looked back.  Truth be told I never wanted to have any girls. I wanted boys and all that comes with them; dirt, wrestling, sports, video games, and toys. So in my efforts as a boys mom I am always looking for opportunities to find exciting new toys or experiences.  Imagine my excitement when I was asked to review a brand new toy for boys before it had been release on the market!

DaGeDar (pronounced Da-Ge-Dar) is the new ultimate toy for boys.  This toy set is comprised of superchared balls, each with a different design, and side by side race tracks for the balls to zoom through in efforts or beating the other to the finish line.  In all honesty when the box arrived I actually estimated a playtime of about 20 minutes and my boys would be bored. In my opinion the concept of dueling racetracks seemed mundane and uninventive.  The supercharged balls did look neat and had potential but I seriously doubted that together the two would make any type of entertainment.  I was wrong, very wrong.

These toys have provided hours of REAL entertainment.  The old fashion kind of entertainment that requires imagination and batteries are not included.  These supercharged balls have not only raced down the race tracks but they have raced through dinosaur towns, Lego worlds and even have taken down the “evil bad guy” in efforts to save the world.  It is not only the imaginative play that grabs their attention.  The tracks are simple enough for a six year old to take apart and reassemble without the help of an adult and this allows for endless opportunities to create new tracks and new races.

Setting up the DaGeDar race track is easy for kid
DaGeDar tracks are easy to construct and make different race tracks for different races

A portion of our house is now dedicated to the DaGeDar Jump track, various power launchers, carrying cases and supercharged balls.  At all times during the day I can never be sure of when an alien ball will come zooming through the living room trying to win the race of the day.  Giggles always ensue….especially when I am the target.

My favorite aspect of the entire DaGeDar line are the balls.  There are over 200 varieties and they all are fun to look at.  The boys love that each of them have their own set and favorites so they don’t really have to share.  In addition, each ball has a trading card with a matching ball. My son was just introduced to the trading card phenomenon and is fascinated.  He is now determined to collect all the balls and their matching cards.

Each DaGeDar ball comes with a matching trading card

The balls also come with a carrying case.  Each carrying case can hold up to three balls and is easily attached to a belt loop.  However I am going to forewarn you right here, if the case is not strategically placed on a belt loop to the side it WILL look like something else…….

He is completely oblivious which is great!   I can’t help myself and take a million pictures to have a little laugh later!  Either way this product is wonderful

Now, this last weekend we were invited to celebrate the release of DaGeDar toys to the general public. We were hosted at K1 Speed Indoor Kart Racing and it was a great time even though I had my butt handed to me on the track AND I was yelled at by the racing gestapo for bumping into the walls too hard.  I was in the zone and I was really trying to keep up on the track!! Either way it was a wonderful opportunity.

These toys are huge hit in our family! They are not only fun but extremely affordable. I encourage everyone to give them a shot!

Don’t rain on my holiday parade….

The holidays are here and I am pumped.  I adore this time of year.  I look forward to it ALL summer.  I even keep my holiday glow for at least a month or two after Christmas, and by “glow” I mean “fat.”

This year however I am going to rant and rave on my little “soapbox” also known as my blog.  So many people are complaining about the holidays. Some are complaining about the money (understandable- Trust me), others about how busy they are, and still others are upset that their kids are out of school on break.  Now, I am not trying to down play other peoples misery, but come on, don’t try to take me down with you!

Here are my reasons for loving the holidays:  (yup- you guessed it- a list)

1. Our Savior’s birth.  What an amazing gift and we get to celebrate it!!!!
2. Food and GOOD food.  Women really pull out all the stops at holiday time.  Yummo. (This also leads to the “glow”)
3. Awesome themed holiday shows…like this classic…Ah Friends, How do I miss you, let me count the ways

4. DECORATIONS THAT SPARKLE

5. Parties!  I actually got invited to a couple last year…
6. Okay – Lets admit it… Presents

7. Cold weather.. I love bundling up.  I really really really do.
8. The ambiance of everything. Stores, inside homes, outside of homes…seriously everything.

I would like to continue but nothing else is coming to mind…

Now, I am truly sorry if you do hate the holidays and have reasons that are completely legitimate. But as for the folks that just like to complain, keep it at home, please.  Don’t rain on my holiday lovin’ parade!

How to look like an AWESOME Pumpkin Carver…No store bought instructions

Today my husband and I got around to carving the pumpkins.  We bought them a couple days ago but we have been so tired and busy that we hadn’t found an opportunity to carve them.  Well, today was the day.  We got our two small boys to haul those suckers in and the mutilation began…

First choose a great pumpkin
Second- empty the out the guts.  Small hands are great for this
Third have your wonderful husband clean out the inside within an each of its life
Next get a DRILL and a couple of DRILL BITS that are different sizes...I only used two different sizes. You will see what I mean in the next pictures.
This is what a drill bit will do to your pumpkin.  A nice clean hole
This is what will happen to your pumpkin if you have fun and steal it from your kids…
Do you notice the gold glaze on it… It is Deco Art Elegant Finish Metallic Glaze. I found it at Michaels last year for about 7 dollars and I love it!
Look how great it came out!  The holes are perfect and SO easy!
Now here is my husbands pumpkin
Anyone know the game that inspired his pumpkin??
Here is the kiddos… I may have helped you be the judge
All three:
Now I showed you mine and gave you some easy tips…Show me yours.

Unexpected Goodie box

Wabam – I’m back!  Just so you know the green been fight did not end in victory.  I forgot that I left them out after his first fit and the little guy didn’t have to eat them when we got home. I did make sure he had veggies for a snack but I lost that one.  Oh well….

Guess what I got in the mail two days ago?!  A box full of goodies from the Mom magazine!  It was such an unexpected treat!!!    Here are some of the goodies that I got!   Stay with me here because there are some AWESOME nursery photos that make me wish I had this magazine sooner…

The loot!  A lot of this is baby stuff so I will be donating them to my MOPS group but I can’t get over how much baby stuff there is now!  I am continually trying to remember if all these options were available when I was pregnant. Do you remember these options?!
This I am keeping.  Munchkin has made drawer freshners with Arn and Hammer.  My boys room NEEDS this.  I don’t understand how they make their room smell like old socks but no matter how many time I do the wash and clean their room it always smells in a matter of days.
Glenna Jean. I don’t know who your are or where you came from but where were you when I was choosing themes for my nursery.
Just look at how beautiful this decor is?  I am sure this cost a ton of money but so many of you are talented enough to make it yourself….
I am really excited about these Laundry Dropps.  They are eco-friendly and safe for my front loader washer.  I do make my own detergent but now I can be lazy for a little while!
Now that I have bragged about my box of goodies I will stop.  It really isn’t fair but I couldn’t help myself!

Fall Bunco – Don’t deny it – You love it too!

Ever play Bunco?  Well, if not, you should. Period. End of Discussion.

This is seriously a great and FUN game. It is also not a game to be ashamed to announce, in public, that you play.  For example, for all of you that actually read Twilight and loved it but will deny it.  And that you secretly can’t wait for the second movie to come out… Not that I know ANYTHING about that… NOTHING. *AHEM* Cough* – as I was saying.
I hosted thirteen wonderful women and had a blast.  One great thing about Bunco is it is a game that gives out prizes!  What did I do for prizes?!  I made them of course!  I made jarred Homemade Hot Chocolate and Spiced Tea.  I also decorated a mason jar and filled it with fresh baked cookies.  It was a lot cheaper than buying cheap prizes and everyone really enjoyed them!  Now I forgot to take pictures of the goodies but I did remember to take a couple of fun shots…

Now the candy corn in this next picture is in a Quart mason jar. I did two small opening games at the beginning of the night to get things going.  There were 440 candy corns and whomever guessed the closest to that amount went home with the jar.
I would like to take credit for these little goodies but I won’t.  My good friend made them for each person to snack on… isn’t she nice!
